Curriculum Provision

The curriculum at Brimble Hill School reflects the individual needs of the pupils and is based on the structure and principles of the early years curriculum.

 Specific areas of learning:- 

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts & Design

 Younger pupils, in the early years and KS1, follow a mainly play based curriculum. This is supported by a topic based approach giving opportunities for creative and exploratory learning.

At KS2 in addition to some play based activities pupils are introduced to more structured activities delivered in class or small groups.

Pupils with PMLD follow a highly individualised curriculum based on sensory learning.  Their curriculum focuses on the areas of:- 

  • Communication
  • Physical development
  • Sensory development
  • Creative development
  • Care, Community and Inclusion

All class groups deliver elements of the Creative Curriculum (art, music and drama).  In addition the school follows a planned Creative Curriculum Programme.
